What does it take to preserve historic warships more than 80 years after their service?
Join Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum historian Colby Causey for a conversation with Chief Engineer, David Coates, Exhibit Manager, Brian Parsons and General Repair Shop Supervisor, David Kratz. These experts will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how time-tested techniques and modern technology work together to protect the ships, restore historic spaces and preserve the story of the USS Yorktown, The Fighting Lady, for future generations.
Topics will include:
* How today’s maintenance efforts compare with the work performed by the ships’ original crews
* The technology used to protect the ships’ historic hulls
* The recovery and restoration of compartments aboard the ships
* The work involved in creating and maintaining tour routes and exhibits
Join us for this program in the Smokey Stover Theater aboard the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. This discussion is included with the cost of general admission to Patriots Point.
