2nd Act Film Project

October 15, 2026 | 7:30 p.m.

Price: $20

Presented by: The Jasper Project

Looking for unique things to do in Columbia, SC, this October? Experience the creativity of South Carolina’s independent film community at the 2nd Act Film Project, presented by The Jasper Project at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College in Irmo.

The 2nd Act Film Project takes a unique approach to independent filmmaking by challenging filmmakers to complete the missing middle of the same story. Each participating filmmaker or team receives the first and third acts of an identical script and must write the second act before turning the story into a completed short film no longer than six minutes.

The result is a collection of original short films that all share the same beginning and ending but take remarkably different creative journeys in between. The project showcases the diverse storytelling styles, perspectives and filmmaking talents found throughout South Carolina.

Founded in 2013, the 2nd Act Film Project was created to encourage collaboration within South Carolina’s independent film community while giving both emerging and experienced filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work. Each selected team receives a production stipend to help offset filming costs.

More than 100 films have been created through the project, making it one of South Carolina’s most distinctive collaborative filmmaking initiatives.

Join the live audience at Harbison Theatre as this year’s selected filmmaking teams premiere their completed short films. See how one shared beginning and ending can inspire countless creative possibilities in an evening celebrating independent film, South Carolina filmmakers and the art of storytelling.
